LBIC: Apex One Year of Expanding Options for Life Science Scale-Ups

London, UK - 29 April 2026 – LBIC (London Bioscience Innovation Centre) marks one year since the launch of LBIC: Apex, its scale‑up facility designed to help life science companies maintain momentum as their teams, programmes and operational demands grow.

With occupancy already at 70%, the model has proven its value under pressure. Companies have entered the facility during periods of programme pivots, leadership transitions and fundraising preparation while keeping experiments running and expanding capacity for new workstreams. Others have used the larger footprint, shared infrastructure and integrated operational support to reconfigure and accelerate experimental cadence without the cost, risk or distraction of building and running a private laboratory.

Over its first 12 months, LBIC: Apex has developed into a science‑first, fully serviced environment, shaped by the needs of its resident community. Ready‑to‑go laboratories, dependable core services and a responsive on‑site team minimise downtime during moves and transitions, protect complex multi‑stage experiments and allow companies to stay focused on R&D rather than facilities management.

Today, LBIC: Apex offers a flexible platform for scale‑up in central London. Modern lab space supports sophisticated workflows, while the ability to co‑locate growing teams helps maintain alignment and speed during periods of change. Strong transport connections and a high‑quality working environment support recruitment and easier in-person engagement with partners and investors.

At LBIC: Apex, we understand that life science teams don’t have time for lab set-up delays or operational distractions, especially during critical times of fundraising, strategic pivoting, or scaling," said Janette Richardson-Lee, Director of Operations, LBIC. "It is our role to remove that friction: providing ready-to-go, fully serviced labs alongside a responsive team, enabling companies to move in quickly, keep experiments running, and focus their time and resources on advancing their science. As LBIC has grown we’ve continued to adapt alongside our clients; building a stable, collaborative environment that helps teams stay aligned, maintain momentum, and take their next steps with confidence.”

As LBIC continues to grow, the focus remains on strengthening operational resilience and refining the client experience to support more teams through critical growth phases. Life science companies looking for flexible, scale‑ready laboratory space in London are encouraged to explore how LBIC: Apex can support their next stage of development.
